Deadline To Apply - November 28, 2021.  Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, this position manages, evaluates and administers approximately $18 million in institutional scholarship and tuition waiver funds and $2.5 million in foundation/outside scholarship funds in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, donor wishes, and institutional strategic goals.

  • Serves as liaison with the Winthrop Foundation and other university offices
  • Assists division leadership in  financial aid leveraging; and assists with the Winthrop Scholarship Committee.
  • Manages, evaluates and administers more than $16 million in state lottery scholarships, state grants, teaching fellows and similar funds in compliance with state, federal and institutional guidelines.
  • Provides counseling and advice to students and parents regarding financial aid programs.
  • Assists with federal Title IV compliance by completing Pell Attendance verification for approximately 2,000 students each semester and completing bi-monthly reconciliations and resolving any discrepancies by federal deadlines for $60 million in aid.
  • Provides daily supervision, guidance, training and back-up for the Program Assistant and part-time front desk staff and collaborates with financial aid management on customer service operations.
  • Manages, evaluates and administers approximately $5 million in Federal Teach Grant and South Carolina Teacher Loan funds.
  • Manages athletic scholarships in keeping with NCAA, federal and institutional guidelines; serves as liaison with the Winthrop Athletics Department; and assists in completing athletic paperwork in the ARMS & Compliance Assist software systems.
  • Coordinates financial aid awards for students who are enrolled in Study Abroad and/or National Student Exchange programs or through consortium transient agreements and serves as office liaison with the University Study Abroad and NSE Coordinator and other institutions.
  • Represents the Financial Aid Office at campus events, as needed, and serves on university committees, as assigned. 


Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in financial aid.  Master’s degree preferred.  Proficiency with Excel, Banner, and working with economically disadvantaged populations highly desired.
