Description
The Director of Financial Aid will provide overall leadership and vision to Winona State University’s financial aid department. The primary purpose of this position is to direct, plan, develop, organize, implement, supervise, administer and maintain a comprehensive student financial assistance program. The Director is responsible for the development and implementation of financial aid policies and procedures that are fair and equitable as well as in compliance with all federal and state statutes and regulations, including oversight of R2T4, verification, and SAP. The Director will oversee the department to ensure clientele needs are met through creating and maintaining a strong customer service model.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience; master’s preferred
- 3 years of experience
- Supervisory or lead work experience
- Knowledge of state and federal financial aid regulations and policies and the ability to develop policy and formulate rules which fall within these guidelines
- Knowledge of the various software packages used in the operations of Financial Aid such as ISRS, Workday, Salesforce/CRM, COD, NSLDS, CPS, and EdConnect.
- Ability to make difficult decisions and problem solve under pressure while demonstrating empathy to student concerns.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills to resolve conflicts to accurately and effectively communicate complex rules and regulations to diverse stakeholder groups.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills to write, prepare, and edit materials and the ability to effectively present information to others.
- Experience with confidential information.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize research to inform, analyze, and execute changes to current or proposed policies/procedures/regulations to ensure continued compliance with federal and state law, board policies and University policies and procedures.
- Experience with Workday, ISRS, and other MinnState systems
