Student Financial Aid

Position Description
Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Monitor policies, procedures, regulation, and administration requirements to ensure compliance with respect to Title IV federal student aid, state aid, and local aid funds for each area/specific function within the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships.
  • Monitor and support NCAA financial aid position in policies and procedures.
  • Research and brief Leadership Team of recently adopted regulations with respect to student aid.
  • Create, coordinate, and publish internally a policies and procedures manual for each area and specific function within the Office of Student Financial Aid.
  • Assist in all audits for financial aid - gathering information, providing requested documents and following-up post audit requests.
  • Provide regulation and operational guidance with respect to financial aid.
  • Ensure adherence by staff to the code of federal regulations with respect to the Title IV federal student aid as compiled by the Department of Education.
  • Monitors expenditures of all state and federal funds for compliance with federal and state regulations. Assist in making applications for funding and for submitting all required reports to said agencies.
  • Confers with applicants and parents in an attempt to counsel them with regard to their needs and problems, and recommends appropriate solutions. Counsels students concerning academic progress, eligibility and procedures.
  • Monitors financial aid packaging for all qualified applicants in accordance with federal regulations and college policy. Assures proper handling of all sponsored, restricted, or endowed scholarship funds.



Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Banner Financial Aid Management System
  • General Financial Aid knowledge
  • Master's degree, preferred.
  • Financial Aid management experience.
