Company Profile
Georgian Court University
Company Overview
Founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy of New Jersey, Georgian Court University is located in residential Lakewood, New Jersey, on a magnificent 156-acre estate formerly belonging to financier George Jay Gould. The campus is conveniently situated 60 miles from New York and Philadelphia and only 10 miles from the beautiful Jersey Shore. Bordering Lake Carasaljo, the site is a National Historic Landmark with magnificent statuary, beautiful architecture and lush gardens, making it a truly breathtaking and inspiring place to learn, study, and live. After a long history as a women's college with coeducational graduate programs and undergraduate evening programs, Georgian Court became fully coeducational in 2013. All degree and certificate programs during the day and evening are now open to both women and men.
Open to students of all faiths, Georgian Court University provides comprehensive liberal arts education in the Roman Catholic tradition with a special concern for women. The university offers a curriculum that is broad enough to be truly liberal, yet specialized enough to provide in-depth preparation for careers or further study.
The unique Georgian Court University atmosphere is one of a small college ambiance in a technologically advanced, highly esteemed university setting. Centered around the core values of the Sisters of Mercy, the university offers an extremely safe and nurturing campus environment with individualized attention and guidance.
The Georgian Court faculty is committed to teaching and individual mentoring, with an outstanding 92% holding doctorates or terminal degrees in their field. They are dedicated and caring educators and experts in their respective industries, while demonstrating public service and a personal affinity to our core values—respect, integrity, justice, compassion, and service.
Georgian Court University offers more than 30 undergraduate degrees, 10 graduate degrees, and a variety of certificates in a wide range of areas through our three schools: School of Arts & Sciences, School of Business, and School of Education.
Benefits of a Georgian Court University education include: small classes, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 15:1; personalized education—faculty members readily available for mentoring; all classes taught by faculty members, not graduate assistants; and inclusive core values of respect, integrity, justice, compassion, and service.
