Located in the shadow of majestic Mount Hood, MHCC serves over 30 thousand students each year. Classes are offered on the 200-acre main campus in Gresham, as well as satellite campuses throughout the district.
Ideally located in the Pacific Northwest, Gresham is Oregon's fourth largest city. Enjoy hiking or biking the many trails and parks or sensational golf on a championship course. Gresham and nearby Troutdale offer downtown shopping experiences from unique boutiques to national factory stores. Exceptional dining and music await you at many distinctive restaurants. Experience the scenic Columbia River Gorge, the splendor of Mount Hood or the cosmopolitan city of Portland, all just minutes away.
MHCC is proud of its ability to remain accessible to a population with diverse needs, in a community that is seeing consistent growth. As a result of growth, in migration, and an ever-changing economic picture, the college district is changing in many ways. Ethnically, the region is becoming more diverse. Many of these residents are seeking college services, and the college continues to work at being better prepared to attract and retain all students in the years ahead.
The college is also proud of its ability to adapt to the changes in technology, in the workplace and in lifestyle patterns, and of its ability to be accountable to students and employers.
Whether students are interested in pursuing a professional-technical degree, transferring to a four-year college or taking a few personal enrichment courses, MHCC is the place for community members to accomplish their goals.
MHCC is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. MHCC opened in 1966. Classes are offered at the 200-acre main campus in Gresham, the MHCC Maywood Park Campus, The Bruning Center for Allied Health Education in downtown Gresham, and evening education centers at public schools within the district.
The college is financed by local property tax funds, state reimbursement funds and student tuition.
The district comprises an area of approximately 950 square miles with a population of over 216,000 (Census 2000). The district lies adjacent to the eastern boundary of the city of Portland and is bounded on the north by the Columbia River. It includes all of Multnomah County east of Portland School District Number 1, the area of Sandy Union High School District and Gresham Union High School District in Clackamas County and the area of the Port of Cascade Locks in Hood River County.
