A diverse institution with a global view, MVCC offers career, transfer, and transitional education, programs for personal and cultural enrichment, and supports community and economic development.
MVCC spans two campuses – one in Utica and another in Rome – and offers more than 90 program options for its 7,000 students. MVCC also serves more than 6,000 people through its corporate and community education programs, and its campuses welcome more than 50,000 people annually for community events.
MVCC’s tuition, the sixth lowest in the SUNY system, along with a robust scholarship program and services including a campus-to-campus direct shuttle help make the College accessible for everyone.
There are 22 intercollegiate athletic programs and more than 50 student clubs and organizations, providing students with a variety of activities to express themselves and explore their options.
The main campus on Sherman Drive opened in 1960 (inclusive of the Academic Building, Physical Education Building, and the Alumni College Center) and was designed by famed architect Edward Durell Stone, whose world-class projects included Radio City Music Hall and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
Other notable buildings in Utica include Payne Hall, the Science and Technology Building that houses MVCC’s FABLab, the Information Technology/Performing Arts/Conference Center, and the Robert R. Jorgensen Athletic/Events Center (which houses a 112,000-square-foot facility that includes a fitness center, a field house for large events such as the Boilermaker Expo, three multi-purpose courts, and an indoor track).
The Rome Campus offers eight unique programs, including several hospitality programs, Surgical Technology, and the Airframe and Powerplant Technology program, the last of which also operates at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park where students receive practical hands-on training on such aircraft as the Boeing 727-100 freighter. The Rome Campus is currently the site of a 48,000-square-foot renovation and construction project.
MVCC and its partners in the community also collaborate to offer programs in the region’s neighborhoods, such as thINCubator and an Educational Opportunity Center. For additional information about MVCC, please visit http://www.mvcc.edu/about
