Company Overview

Since our founding in 1888, the University of Charleston has been providing a dynamic educational experience in a welcoming environment that nurtures the strengths of each student to help them reach their highest potential. Our mission is to educate each student for a life of productive work, enlightened living, and community involvement. Our educational program focuses on “learning your way” where each student is allowed to demonstrate what they have learned in order to earn the credits necessary for graduation. This curriculum is a unique blend of learning outcomes, student needs, course delivery, experiential education, and continuous quality improvement.
Our 40-acre campus is located directly across from the State Capital Complex along the banks of the Kanawha River in the beautiful city of Charleston, West Virginia. Our location offers students the best of both worlds with all the amenities of a major metropolitan community and renowned outdoor recreational attractions found in the Mountain State. Housing facilities for residential students are very modern and student-friendly. We offer students many living options from traditional double, single, suite, and apartment style rooms. Because the University believes that students learn from their involvement in the community and campus activities, students are strongly encouraged to participate in one or more of the forty cocurricular organizations found at the University. The Community Service program provides opportunities for students to help both on campus and in the Charleston area. The varsity sports program has become one of the University’s most valuable assets with teams competing in Division II of the NCAA.
