Company Profile
University of North Texas
Company Overview
In 1890, the University of North Texas (UNT) was founded with a vision to transform lives. One hundred and twenty years later, UNT has grown to be an emerging research university offering bachelor’s through Ph.D. degrees to 36,000 students in 12 schools and colleges, from engineering to visual arts. Backed by growing peer recognitions, UNT is seeking to take its place among the premier universities.
In fall 2009, U.S. News & World Report named UNT as one of the top national universities that is "leading the pack" in innovative changes, making it the only Texas public university on the list. At UNT, more than 6,000 students live in campus residence halls and 8,000 are graduate students. Proud of its inclusive environment, UNT is one of few universities in the country with more than both 4,800 African American and 5,200 Hispanic students.
The university ranks among the top of all universities in the country for student financial aid and scholarships, awarding more than $300 million annually and is making strategic investments in faculty, programs and infrastructure to move closer to tier-one status even as its legacy in the arts, education and music is sustained and grows. All the while, UNT continues to excel in the two-fold mission of educating and graduating students, earning its third Texas Higher Education Star Award in 2009 for closing the gaps in education.
UNT is the most comprehensive university in the Dallas/Fort Worth region, which is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the United States. Still growing, the region is vibrant and economically sound, making way for a very bright future for UNT.
