Company Overview
Wilmington University is a private, non-sectarian school that offers undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degree programs in a variety of career areas. The University is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
Wilmington University began as a college with a charter class of 194 students in 1968 and has grown to become a University with a student body of over 11,500 students.
On September 10, 2007 Wilmington College officially became a university after being approved by the Board of Trustees and the Middles States Association of Colleges and Schools. The name change helps to better reflect the emphasis on baccalaureate and higher degree programs that distinguish Wilmington University from other community colleges as well as effectively communicate the full commitment and mission of the University.
The program of day, evening, and weekend classes at Wilmington University serves traditional high school graduates as well as non-traditional adult students in need of flexible scheduling. Classes are primarily offered in seven-week, fifteen-week, and weekend modular formats.
Wilmington University’s New Castle campus is located near the city of Wilmington in historic New Castle, Delaware. The campus is easily accessible by air, rail, and bus. Its central location in the northeast corridor of the United States provides Wilmington University students convenient access to the major cities of New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. as well as recreational areas such as beaches and ski resorts.
Additional locations throughout the State of Delaware include the Wilson Graduate Center, Dover, Dover Air Force Base, Georgetown, and our Rehoboth Beach College Information Center.
In June of 2007 the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education granted licensure to Wilmington University to offer select degree programs in southern New Jersey. The New Jersey locations include Burlington County College in Mt. Laurel, Cumberland County College in Vineland and Salem Community College in Carneys Point.
Wilmington University generally serves commuter students and does not provide student-housing facilities. However, the College welcomes all qualified students and assists those needing housing accommodations by providing a listing of nearby rental opportunities.
